We have mostly clear skies in the forecast today and another very mild day, one of the last for some areas of KELOLAND. Fire danger is very high in most areas with a red flag warning in effect this afternoon for Sioux Falls, Aberdeen, Pierre, and Rapid City.
Other fire danger statement are also in effect, so be extra careful today. Highs will in the mid 70s in the east, with mid 80s likely in the west.
Tonight’s weather will be partly cloudy with lows mainly in the middle 40s. Strong north winds are in the forecast for Rapid City as the cold front starts to drop south. This front will have a big impact on the weather tomorrow with a wide range of temperatures across KELOLAND. Highs will range from near 50 in Buffalo to the lower 80s in the southeast.
Showers will be increasing tomorrow with chances of rain spreading into most of northern and western SD by the late afternoon. Sioux Falls will have a chance of showers by late Wednesday evening and Thursday.
The cooler air will be fully entrenched by Thursday with highs mainly in the 50s. The cooler weather will be in the forecast for several days. In fact, another disturbance will affect the Black Hills on Friday and there will be a chance of accumulating snow in the higher elevations.
