Locally Heavy Rain Overnight North...Not As Hot Midweek….More Heat Ahead…
Rain has been falling across portions of northern and western KELOLAND. Locally 4” has fallen southeast of Bison and over 1” has been reported near Mobridge. These scattered t-storms will continue north of Pierre this morning as cooler weather moves in behind a cold front. This front will drop to near I-90 this afternoon, so Sioux Falls will be one of the hottest areas with highs near 98. Rapid City will be cooler with areas of showers and t-storms possible later this afternoon once again.
This situation will repeat later tonight as thunderstorms develop in western SD and move east overnight, affecting mainly Pierre and Aberdeen. Some of the storms this evening could be severe.
Sioux Falls still has a shot of rain late tonight and again tomorrow, but we are not looking as widespread rain at this time.
Looking ahead, hotter weather will likely return by the end of the week with temperatures close to 100 Friday and Saturday.
