SIOUX FALLS, SD - Rain, sleet, and snow has left behind some slick spots on the roads this morning north and west of Sioux Falls, so give yourself some extra travel time. Temperatures will be warming today above freezing, so conditions will quickly improve today with highs in the mid to upper 30s in the east and lower to mid 40s in the west.
The next chance of snow, however, will arrive as early as tonight in western KELOLAND as lows drop below freezing. This will be associated with a warm front that is expected to move east during the day. An area of light rain and light snow will accompany this front, but amounts should stay light and afternoon highs will be mild. 50s are expected in Rapid City and much of south-central KELOLAND, with 40s in many areas. Snow showers will be more likely tomorrow night and Thursday in eastern KELOLAND as a cold front swings into the area from the north. Winds will also be a story tomorrow, with high wind watches in effect for Rapid City.
The weather looks dry for Friday and Saturday, but another storm system may affect KELOLAND late Sunday into Monday. This one had the potential to be a strong system, but it’s much too early to predict the exact track and intensity of this system. Stay tuned…
