SIOUX FALLS, SD -
Mostly sunny skies are forecast today in KELOLAND with highs mainly in the 60s. Winds will be light from the south in the Sioux Falls areas, but winds will be stronger west and north of Sioux Falls as the day continues.
Scattered rain will develop in the west tonight and that scattered rain is forecast to spread east along a cold front. That front will switch the wind to the northwest and expect wind speeds up to 35mph in Rapid City tomorrow morning.
Sioux Falls and eastern KELOLAND will have the best chance of rain and scattered t-storms by tomorrow evening. Most amounts will be less than .25”, but there could be locally heavier totals with any thunderstorms to do develop. Highs will be in the 60s ahead of the front, with 50s behind it.
Thursday should dry out with highs again in the 60s. A small disturbance will move into KELOLAND on Friday with 20-30% chance of rain. Highs will remain in the 60s into the weekend.
There are signs of a pattern change next week that would allow much warmer air to return to KELOLAND. If this happens, it will also allow the thunderstorm threat to increase, a trend we’ll watch in the coming days.
