SIOUX FALLS, SD -
The rainfall yesterday was very helpful, but this forecast will show us just how tough this drought will be going forward. Parts of northeastern SD are in better shape now, although the damage has already been done to some of the crops. Those that missed the rain in the southeast are in much worse shape and the chances of more rain are not very high.
Highs will be in the mid 90s from Aberdeen to Sioux Falls, with highs near 102 in both Pierre and Rapid City. If we see any t-storms tonight, the most favored area would be across north central SD.
The forecast going forward will be hot with highs tomorrow near 108 in Rapid City. The 100s will make it to Sioux Falls by Saturday, with little relief expected early next week.
The new drought monitor will be out later this morning. It will likely show a few changes with worsening conditions in parts of southeastern KELOLAND. We’ll have the latest information through the day.
