A very warm day is forecast across KELOLAND today with extreme fire danger our top headline. A red flag warning is in effect for all of our area this afternoon and early this evening. Highs will reach into the 90s in most areas, with a few 100s in central KELOLAND. Winds will be very high with gusts to 45mph in SW MN. Sioux Falls area will see winds at 15-35 mph much of the afternoon.
A cold front will start moving across western KELOLAND tonight, with strong winds up to 40mph in Rapid City and cooler lows in the upper 50s. Sioux Falls and the southeast will be ahead of the front tomorrow and that means another hot day with highs on Tuesday in the 90s. Expect fire danger to be high as well tomorrow.
The good news is rain showers are expected in much of the southeast by Wednesday over some of the driest areas of KELOLAND. This rain will be accompanied by much cooler weather with highs in the lower 70s in most areas. Those 70s will continue the next several days as Canadian air moves in across the region.
