We have a very warm day in the forecast with highs well above normal. In Sioux Falls, look for upper 40s this afternoon and lower 50s are likely from Yankton to Rapid City. Enjoy the mild weather because changes are on the way.
A cold front will arrive in Aberdeen tomorrow morning. Strong winds will accompany this first front with highs in the morning hours in the mid 20s, then falling in the afternoon. Sioux Falls will be a little warmer at 34, but stronger winds will arrive in the afternoon and temperatures will start falling after 3pm. Rapid City and Pierre will follow the same trends during the late afternoon.
Colder weather will continue on Sunday along with areas of light snow as a second system drops through the region. Snowfall looks light, less than 1”. The cold will be the big headline with subzero windchills Sunday into Monday. Windchills could drop into the -30 range in the northeast by Monday morning.
A slow warming trend will begin by Tuesday, with highs in the 40s again West River by Wednesday.
