Storm Center Update-Friday AM

January 11, 2013, 7:04 AM by Brian Karstens

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

We have a busy day of weather in KELOLAND.  First, dense fog has developed in much of southeastern SD.  A dense fog advisory has been posted for much of the southeast until noon.  Meanwhile, snow is developing in western SD where winter storm warnings have been posted today and tonight.  This warning includes Rapid City, Wall, Faith, and Mobridge.  A winter weather advisory has been issued for much of central and northeastern KELOLAND starting this afternoon and continuing tonight.  This includes Winner, Pierre, and Aberdeen.  No advisories have been posted for Sioux Falls at this time.   Temperatures today will range from the lower 40s in NW IA to the lower teens in Rapid City.  Temperatures will be falling this afternoon in both Aberdeen and Pierre.

Snow and blowing snow will be the headline tonight, with the worst conditions NW of a Winner, Huron, Watertown line.  Blizzard conditions could develop across central and northeastern KELOLAND tonight, so stay tuned for more updates through the day.  Sioux Falls and the southeast will see much colder temperatures tonight, but snow amounts will stay light from Mitchell to Brookings and points east, mainly an inch or less.

Cold and windy conditions will be with us tomorrow with light snow likely in the morning.  Temperatures will be holding in the single digits in Aberdeen, with lower teens in the south.

Weather conditions will improve early next week with a slow warming trend expected.  Stay tuned to KELOLAND News and KELOLAND.com for the latest headlines through the day.
