SIOUX FALLS, SD -
The hot weather is the big weather story this week as we temperatures in the 90s and heat index values over 100 at times. Heat advisories are in effect for much of eastern KELOLAND today and for parts of the area again tomorrow, including Sioux Falls.
The pattern will be fairly stable the rest of the week, with only slight chances of rain in northern KELOLAND on Wednesday night and Thursday. A few areas of rain could also develop in the Black Hills region during the same time period, but the southeast looks mainly dry. It looks like the heat will continue into Labor Day weekend. Our best chance of breaking the higher temperatures will be Saturday night into Sunday. We will monitor any chance of rain with that expected front later today, but this is still several days away.
There is some disagreement about how long the "cooler" weather may last early next week, but it does appear it won't be as hot. However, temperatures could remain above normal, a trend we'll watch.
