Storm Center Update- Wednesday AM

August 27, 2014, 6:24 AM by Brian Karstens

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Showers and thunderstorms are expanding this morning across Nebraska and will try to drift north during the day.  Sioux Falls will have about a 30% chance of rain, with a 20%-30% chance of rain in both Pierre and Rapid City.  Aberdeen should stay dry.  Highs are expected to be in the lower to middle 70s.

Rain is likely tonight in much of southeastern KELOLAND, some of it heavy.  The heaviest rain is still likely south of Sioux Falls, where locally 2+” will be possible.  Amounts will generally decrease the farther north you live, with only a 20% chance of rain in Aberdeen.

Showers and thunderstorms will continue tomorrow morning in the east, with a clearing trend west.  Highs will still be in the mid to upper 70s in Aberdeen, but warmer 80s are forecast to the west.

We’ll have mainly dry weather on Friday and Saturday with no major systems to track at this time.  Temperatures look mild in the upper 70s to lower 80s East River, with mid to upper 80s in the west.

The next front will arrive in KELOLAND sometime late Sunday into Monday with another chance of showers and thunderstorms.  We’ll have more information on that chance of rain in the coming days.
