Look for a warmer day Tuesday in KELOLAND, but stronger south winds are also expected in many areas east of the James Valley. Highs will range from the mid 40s in Rapid City to the lower 20s in Sioux Falls. Some light rain or light snow could also develop West River Tuesday afternoon.
Light rain and light snow is possible Tuesday night with an approaching cold front. Around an inch is possible in Sioux Falls, so just enough snow is possible to create some slick spots by Wednesday morning.
While temperatures will start the day colder again in eastern KELOLAND, a steady warming trend will move across western areas and this will spread east toward Sioux Falls Wednesday night and early Thursday morning. In fact, Sioux Falls could be close to 40 or a little higher at the peak of the warming, but the numbers should fall Thursday afternoon and evening once again as another cold front rolls through the region.
Look for a brief cool down on Friday before a warm up begins this weekend. Highs will be in the 30s and 40s in most areas, with the warmest air arriving next week. We could see more 50s around KELOLAND if the snow melts at a faster rate.
