Rain continues to slowly expand across central and eastern KELOLAND this morning. As of 5:30am, over 1” has fallen around Yankton and Tabor so far, and the heavier downpours are expected to move to the northeast. Sioux Falls will have scattered rain chances all day today, so keep the StormTracker App handy for the latest information. Showers will expand all the way north toward Aberdeen, but amounts will be lower there. Skies will become partly in the west today as the storm system slowly moves east through the plains. Afternoon highs will range from the mid 70s in Sioux Falls and Aberdeen, to the lower 80s for both Pierre and Rapid City.
Lingering scattered rain is possible in Sioux Falls tonight, but drier weather is expected to the west and north. Lows will be mainly in the upper 50s to lower 60s. Chances of rain will decrease tomorrow and highs will be warmer. We are expecting more 80s West River.
This warmer weather will expand east this weekend. However, we do expect a strong cold front Sunday afternoon to affect KELOLAND as showers and thunderstorms develop. This will likely affect your weekend plans later Sunday, something we’ll need to watch.
Cooler weather is forecast by Labor Day, with a gradual rise in temperatures later next week.
