A strong spring storm system continues to push through the region today. Storms affected much of southeastern KELOLAND last night, with tornado reports between Vermillion and Akron, IA. We also have confirmed tornado reports near Hospers, IA. Heavy rain also fell in much of KELOLAND. Sioux Falls reports .75”, Aberdeen .55”, and over 1” fell in Todd County in south-central KELOLAND.
More rain is forecast today in KELOLAND, mainly East River. Highs will be in the upper 40s to near 50. Clearing skies are expected tonight in the west and temperatures will be cooler in the 30s for Rapid City, Pierre, and Aberdeen. Sioux Falls will be a little warmer near 40.
We are tracking a cool forecast for much of the week ahead. Highs will only be in the mid to upper 50s tomorrow with a blend of sun and clouds. Overnight lows will drop into the 30s tomorrow night and patchy frost will be possible.
We may have a few more nights in the 30s this week and areas of frost are likely. We’ll keep you posted as the week goes on. The forecast will get closer to normal again by next weekend.
