Areas of rain, snow, and thunder are expected in KELOLAND today as a storm system continues in the region. Snow has fallen West River and heavy snow has been reported in the Black Hills…over 6” in the highest elevations. Snow has also caused travel problems around Pine Ridge. The snow will be melting some today, but wet and blustery weather will remain in place during the day. Showers and occasional t-storms will continue in central KELOLAND. Rain is also likely in the northeast off and on during the day. The southeast will see drizzle, scattered showers, even a few thunderstorms south of Sioux Falls toward the Missouri River Valley.
Scattered rain continues tonight as moisture rotates around the back side of a large low pressure center over Nebraska. Some snow is possible overnight north of Sioux Falls…perhaps a slushy coating on cars and grassy surfaces by the morning in Aberdeen and Watertown…maybe Brookings. Keep an eye on that possibility.
Tomorrow looks cooler with more wind from the north at 20-40 mph. Scattered showers are still possible…a chance that will continue through midweek.
Temperatures will get a little warmer by the end of the week, but it will be awhile before the weather feels like spring again.
