Storm Center Update- Monday AM

October 8, 2012, 7:15 AM by Brian Karstens

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

The weather looks warmer today across KELOLAND, but don’t expect this bounce in temperature to last all week.  It appears we’ll be riding a roller coaster of temperatures the next several days.

This morning is starting out warmer with many locations in the mid 40s like Sioux Falls.  We even have a few 50s in NW SD.  Today’s planner is noticeably warmer with temperatures into the 60s by noon in Sioux Falls and highs close to 70s late in the afternoon.

We have enough winds today combined with low humidity levels to produce extreme fire danger.  A red flag warning has been issued for much of southeastern KELOLAND for the afternoon.

A cold front passing through the region will bring cooler weather from north to south starting today and continuing tonight.  A few showers will be possible, especially tonight in the southern half of KELOLAND.  Don’t count on anything heavy, but some a few hundredths of an inch will be possible.

Highs will be trending cooler tomorrow with most areas in the upper 40s to lower 50s.  Winds will be gusty at times into the 30mph range.

The rest of the work week will feature more temperature ups and downs, but the big story will be a “real” chance of rain by the weekend.  A low pressure center is forecast to move our direction from Colorado by late Friday into Saturday.  It’s too early to specific, but this system could give parts of KELOLAND at least a .50” of rain.  Stay tuned!
