We have another cold morning in KELOLAND. Temperatures have dropped well below zero in many areas, even down to around 20 below zero just west of Pierre. We will see a good rebound today with sunshine in the forecast and highs in the mid to upper teens in Sioux Falls. Aberdeen will still be colder around 12, with upper teens in Pierre and lower 20s.
We are forecasting areas of snow tonight in much of southern KELOLAND. The snow should be mainly light, but Sioux Falls could pick up around an inch. Locally higher amounts will be possible in NW IA and SW MN.
Colder air will likely return for the last half of the weekend. Highs on Sunday will struggle to get above zero in many areas East River. This colder trend will linger into Monday, but we are forecasting an improvement by Tuesday.
We still some warmer signals next week, but it will be a process to see that trend unfold. We may slip back on temperatures either Thursday or Friday, but a general trend toward milder weather is ahead towards Valentine’s Day.
