Storm Center Update - Wednesday PM

January 22, 2014, 3:14 PM by Scot Mundt

Winds will slowly let up as we go through the rest of the afternoon and evening.  Along with the decrease in winds, blowing snow will be less and less of an issue.  With clear skies tonight and lighter winds, lows will fall to the teens and twenties below in eastern KELOLAND.  Wind Chill Advisories are in effect for much of eastern KELOLAND due to the bitter cold and wind.  Wind chill values will fall to the teens to thirties below at times tonight and Thursday morning.  Central and western South Dakota will have lows in the single digits below as well.

Thursday will be sunny and cold with highs in the single digits for eastern South Dakota.  Low twenties will be likely in central KELOLAND with thirties in the west.

Warmer air will quickly move in on Friday with some areas east of the James River Valley warming to the low forties.  Forties and fifties will also be found in central and western South Dakota.  There’s also a slight chance for rain and snow that day, but anything that falls will be very light.  Some of the warmer air will spill over into Saturday, but Sunday will be cooler.  There’s another clipper in the works for the northern plains this weekend.  It’s just a matter of timing for when it moves through KELOLAND, but it does look like early next week will be very cold.
