The Hills of western South Dakota will continue to receive snow through the evening. There have been heavier hits of snow from time to time this afternoon which have combined with strong winds creating reduced visibilities to a half mile or less at times. Most of the snow will be confined to the Hills, but snow showers will still be possible in the plains of western South Dakota (Rapid City included) with minor accumulations. By the time the snow is done, there will be some parts of the Hills with amounts of a foot to a foot and a half.
Winds and clouds will slowly decrease from north to south tonight with lows eventually falling to the single digits above and below zero.
Thursday will be sunny, but colder with highs in the teens in eastern South Dakota, twenties in the central and west. Winds will not be as strong with speeds averaging five to fifteen miles per hour.
The weekend will be dry with slowly warming temperatures. Eastern South Dakota will even have a chance to see some lower thirties for highs while western South Dakota warms to the middle forties. The warming trend will last into early next week with upper thirties expected in eastern South Dakota; some in western KELOLAND will even approach fifty degrees.
