Rain will be scattered through the afternoon, but it will eventually become widespread late tonight into Wednesday morning. The best locations for the widespread rain will be in central South Dakota through northwest Iowa. This is an area that will have to be monitored for periods of heavy rain tonight. Amounts of one to three inches will be possible from Pierre to Chamberlain and east/southeast to Sioux Falls and Spencer, Iowa. Temperatures will eventually fall to the fifties and sixties tonight with light winds.
The rain will continue into Wednesday as skies remain mostly cloudy. Temperatures will be cool with highs in the sixties and seventies. Winds on Wednesday will be from the east at ten to twenty miles per hour.
The rain chances will steadily go down as we get closer to the weekend, but an isolated shower or storm will remain possible here and there. Temperatures will also slowly warm, but they will continue to remain below average through the weekend.
