Clouds will increase from west to east as we go through this evening and tonight. In the meantime, snow will continue to fall in the Hills where Winter Weather Advisories cover the Hills for two to five inches of snow by late this evening. Overnight lows will be hit early tonight, mainly in the teens and twenties, then expect them to warm toward sunrise.
Wednesday will be warmer, but with thicker clouds in eastern KELOLAND. Many locations will make the middle to upper thirties in central and eastern South Dakota with Rapid City warming to the middle forties.
Slightly cooler air will move in on Thursday, but many locations will remain above average with highs in the thirties and forties. Friday will be much like what’s expected for Wednesday with highs in the thirties and forties, but the warmth will not last for the weekend.
Colder air will start to ooze into the northern plains this weekend with highs in the teens and twenties on Saturday. Temperatures will be even colder on Sunday with highs in the single digits and teens. The push of cold air will also squeeze out scattered light snow on Sunday. As of now, it looks like light accumulations will be possible.
The core of the cold will arrive on Monday with highs struggling above zero in northern KELOLAND. Single digits above will be likely in central and southeast South Dakota.
