Storm Center Update - Tuesday AM

March 12, 2013, 7:14 AM by Ben Cathey

A Winter Weather Advisory is now posted for the far northeastern corner.  Included are Watertown, Aberdeen and Sisseton through 7:00 p.m. tonight.  This is primarily for winds blowing old snow around.  Still, there is a chance we could add more light and fluffy snow to the pack.  Winds that plagued western South Dakota are moving East River and should be clocking in at 20-30 mph today.  Winds won’t die out until sundown for many.  The areas we’re watching for blowing snow are the northeastern corridor, the Iowa Great Lakes and the Chamberlain to Murdo stretch of I-90.  All of these spots still have snow on the ground.  Blowing snow could reduce visibility at times.
Tonight will be on the cold side, down into the single digits along the North Dakota border.  Apart from very isolated snow showers, we will dry things out.  Warm air comes in from Montana tomorrow and will warm the Black Hills and foothills up nicely.  That warmth will spread to the east by Thursday in a dramatic rise of high temperatures.  Clouds return from Friday through your weekend.  Friday will still be warm but Saturday will be a touch cooler. The best chances for rain/snow mix are Sunday and Monday.
