Winds will slow down as we head into this evening and tonight. With the lighter winds, visibilities will greatly improve and the Blizzard Warnings will be expiring for much of the area. As winds die down and skies clear, temperatures will fall to the single digits above and below zero for eastern South Dakota. Central and western KELOLAND will have lows fall to the teens.
Friday will be cold with highs in the teens and twenties in eastern KELOLAND but central and western South Dakota will be warmer with highs in the thirties in central South Dakota (Pierre’s forecast is for 38) to the forties in western KELOLAND (Rapid City’s forecast is for a high of 47).
The winds will return on Saturday with gusts to fifty miles per hour in western South Dakota. The strong winds will bring in another round of cold air, but Sunday will feature a quick warm-up. Highs will be near forty on Sunday in southeast South Dakota, middle forties in central KELOLAND to the middle fifties in the west.
