Storm Center Update - Thursday PM

November 8, 2012, 2:35 PM by Scot Mundt

Dry skies will continue tonight with lows eventually falling to the low to middle thirties.  Winds will remain light from the north and northeast at five to fifteen miles per hour.

Thick clouds will return on Friday with temperatures in the forties and fifties.  Light rain and light snow will eventually fall in western South Dakota later in the day and turn to all snow for the overnight.  The snow will continue into Saturday with the heaviest totals being north and west of KELOLAND.  Highs on Saturday will range from the sixties in southeast South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa to the thirties in western South Dakota.  Along with the warmer air in the east, scattered rain showers will be possible.  Light rain will also develop in central, north central, and northeast South Dakota after noon on Saturday.  The light rain will slowly mix and switch to light snow after sunset on Saturday.  Light rain showers will slowly mix and switch to light snow in southeast KELOLAND Saturday night.  The snow amounts still are not looking impressive, but an inch or two will be possible.

Lingering light snow showers will be likely in southeast KELOLAND Sunday morning, but strong northwest winds will quickly scour out the clouds and give way to a partly cloudy day.  Temperatures on Sunday will only be in the twenties to near thirty.

Temperatures will start cold next week, but we’ll slowly warm back to the forties and fifties by Tuesday.
