Storm Center Update - Sunday PM

February 16, 2014, 4:15 PM by Grant Smith

A widespread winter mix of freezing rain/sleet/snow event looks to move through the area Sunday night and be gone by early Monday morning. The main issue is timing of the precipitation and whether or not the air will be cold enough to sustain snow. As of now, snowfall amounts look to be on the lighter side, dusting to ½ inch for west and central KELOLAND while the eastern side could see up to one inch with some areas in the northeast seeing up to two inches of snow.

High pressure sets up to the south which will help keep warmer temperatures in the area next week. Southeast KELOLAND will slowly warm up to the mid 40s by Wednesday. Northeast KELOLAND looks to stay steady in the mid 30s. Central and western KELOLAND will have highs holding steady in the mid 40s. Thursday, temperatures for everyone will start to drop as another low pressure system pushes more cold air back into the area.
