With the radar clearing out early on this morning, the focus changes to the cold and wind. Northwest winds won’t calm during the day as dueling systems are near KELOLAND. That will keep wind chills in the teens for the entire day. We woke up to many spots with “feels-like” temperatures well below zero.
Any lingering snow showers in eastern South Dakota should be gone early in the day. Clouds will stick around during the day in the east with some slight clearing West River. Tonight we will be very cold, yet again. Expect single digit lows in many locations with wind chills near zero. The winds will only calm slightly overnight.
By tomorrow morning, light snow is possible in far NE South Dakota. Otherwise, the sun will come back out but we won’t warm up very much. There will be a gradual warming trend for KELOLAND and the Midwest by mid-week. More normal high temperatures return but mornings will still be near freezing. Friday looks pretty nice, with sunshine and warmth. We’re watching next weekend for a new system but right now it’ looking very distant.
