Storm Center Update - Saturday PM

December 21, 2013, 5:58 PM by Scot Mundt

Light snow will continue in western South Dakota through the evening and overnight, but snow amounts will be generally less than an inch.  Light snow chances will move into central and eastern KELOLAND tonight, but any amounts will stay less than an inch.  Temperatures will fall to the single digits above and below zero tonight with north winds of ten to fifteen miles per hour.  Wind chills tonight will fall to the teens and twenties below at times.

Sunday will be cold and breezy.  There will be a couple of lingering snow showers during the morning in southeast KELOLAND along with a slight chance for everyone to have a snow shower or two during the day.  Any snow that falls will stay less than an inch.  Highs will struggle above zero in northern KELOLAND with areas of southern KELOLAND just above zero.

Teens and twenties below zero return Sunday night into Monday morning.  As of now, we have Aberdeen falling to twenty-six below for Monday morning.  The current record for that day is thirty-four below.  The southern half of KELOLAND will most likely be in the teens below zero Monday morning.  Monday afternoon will be mostly sunny but cold with highs in the single digits above and below zero.

Tuesday will be a little warmer, but we’re also watching for a slight chance for light snow.  Moisture is very limited, so anything that fall will stay light.  Highs on Tuesday will be in the twenties and thirties.

Christmas Day will be dry and slightly colder with highs mainly in the low to middle twenties.
