Storm Center Update - Saturday PM

October 27, 2012, 5:18 PM by Ben Cathey

So far today we’ve had little in the way of sunshine and warmth.  That pattern of gray skies continues for much of the early week, including tomorrow.  But first tonight we are still tracking a weak disturbance for eastern KELOLAND.  The system is right where we thought it would be by early evening with very light rains coming down.  As this system limps along tonight, we could see some isolated dusting of snow.  Accumulation in our SE counties should be very light.
Another part of this is in the NE.  Light snows have been reported in North Dakota, just across the border from Aberdeen.  Visibilities could prove to be an issue if any light snow moves into South Dakota tonight.
After this moves out by sunrise tomorrow, we go back into a very quiet pattern.  Unfortunately the clouds don’t really want to part before at least Monday.  Due to large weather systems on both coasts, we’re in a blocking pattern.  That will keep us dry through the week with a dry feel to the air.
We do slowly warm up to more seasonal temperatures by Tuesday.  The sun should start coming back out by Wednesday and overall the end of the workweek doesn’t look bad.  A new cold front comes next Friday, making for a cooler Saturday.  This could be the change that the Black Hills and far west need to get some light rain.  The computer models seven days out are disagreeing on where this next storm will be next Saturday.
