Storm Center Update - Saturday PM

October 6, 2012, 6:51 PM by Ben Cathey

We had record breaking lows this morning and there really isn't a big change coming for tonight.  Cold air stays the big story but we also had some snow in the Hills.  Reports from near Custer had several inches of snow after drifting.  There was also a trace in Sisseton, Watertown and Mobridge.

Tonight we'll be down in the lower 20s again.  Some will fall to the teens.  With a west wind tomorrow we'll be somewhat warmer.  Arctic air sticks around for much of the week and that means below normal temperatures.  Because of that, most will spend most of Sunday in the 40s and 50s before an eventual high near 60.

Another cold front arrives early week.  That draws in warmer winds for Monday, which should be the warmest day of the week.  Clouds will increase from the west and you can expect mostly cloudy skies by Tuesday.  Even with near overcast skies, rain remains unlikely.

Midweek brings more sunshine and lower 60s.  Many mornings will be at or near freezing.  The next chance of widespread rains will be next Saturday.  That system will arrive from the southwest and some computer models try pushing it to the east.
