Storm Center Update - Saturday AM

October 13, 2012, 7:18 AM by Ben Cathey

We are still tracking showers and thunderstorms along the borders of KELOLAND.  We still have chances for rain, though most will be done by the morning hours.  Dry air overnight left us with overcast skies but not much else.  Morning fog began blanketing NW Iowa ahead of showers but we don’t expect heavy rains.  Most who do see rain will pick up less than a tenth of an inch.  The past three days have seen computer models retreat the rain subtly to the east each time and that’s proven to be the case.
Rain showers should also push NE from the Badlands in a thin stream.  That line looks to be roughly from Winner-Watertown through the middle of the afternoon.  Again, anything that forms will be light.
The other big weather story is the winds.  We’ll have strong breezes again in the west.  North winds will be 20-30 mph sustained through much of the afternoon.  That wind will also power a warm-up for today and tomorrow.  Highs will be warm for this time of year, mostly near 70.
We don’t expect much for tonight, just a few clouds.  Most will fall to near 40.
Tomorrow will again be breezy and warm but there is very little chance of rain.  Monday looks great for outdoor plans.  There will be plentiful sunshine, warming temperatures and a slightly milder wind.
The next cool-down and chance of rain comes Tuesday night into Wednesday.  Now the chance looks like scattered showers.
