A strong front will be producing light rain or light snow this evening, followed by very strong NW winds.
Snow is falling in the Black Hills right now. There is also a patch of lighter snow ahead of the front in NE SD.
The main band of light rain or light snow should affect central South Dakota around sunset, and then move to Sioux Falls and the I-29 corridor around 7 pm tonight. NW winds of 25-35 mph will follow. A wind advisory is posted overnight, which includes Sioux Falls. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Aberdeen to Brookings plus SW Minnesota due to strong winds that could blow snowflakes sufficiently to cause whiteout conditions late tonight and tomorrow morning.
Tomorrow will be a Partly Cloudy but windy day, with NW winds 20-30 mph in the afternoon.
Wednesday will continue to be mild, temperature-wise, with lots of 30s. But Wednesday night into Thursday, another round of fierce winds will blow through the region.
