Storm Center Update - Monday PM
March 21, 2011, 3:44 PM
by Scot Mundt
Showers and storms will move into KELOLAND from the south tonight. Some of the storms in southeast KELOLAND will produce hail up to the size of quarters with rain amounts ranging from a quarter to a half inch. Lows tonight will fall to the thirties and forties with easterly winds of fifteen to twenty-five miles per hour.
Scattered showers and storms will still be possible Tuesday with the best chance to get wet in northeast South Dakota. The storm system might be able to drag in drier air at the surface to allow for clearing skies during the afternoon in western, central, and southeast KELOLAND. Highs will range from the upper thirties in Aberdeen to the middle/upper fifties in the southeast.
Cold air will wrap up in the system Tuesday night and Wednesday to allow for areas of snow. As of now, the snow will stay fairly light but I wouldn’t be surprised for accumulating snow in northern South Dakota. Temperatures will remain ten to fifteen degrees below average Wednesday through the weekend.
