Storm Center Update - Friday PM

May 30, 2014, 3:16 PM by Scot Mundt

Isolated showers and storms have developed in southeast KELOLAND this afternoon with a couple of these becoming severe.  Large hail has been the main threat with these storms.  At the same time, rain will continue in western KELOLAND through the overnight.  Isolated storms have also developed in south central South Dakota, just west of Winner as well as just west of Aberdeen.  The showers and storms are moving north and will last through the afternoon and evening.

The rain will be widespread in western and central KELOLAND tonight with scattered activity in eastern South Dakota.  Periods of heavy rain will be possible tonight in western and central KELOLAND with some areas receiving over an inch.  Lows will fall to the middle sixties in central and eastern South Dakota with the middle fifties in western KELOLAND.

The active weather will continue into the weekend.  In fact, severe weather will be possible both days.  Saturday’s severe weather will be in western South Dakota, and then Sunday’s will be in central and eastern South Dakota.  Temperatures will range from the seventies to the middle eighties.

The rain and cool air will linger into next week with scattered showers and storms through Tuesday.  Highs will remain in the seventies.
