Bitter cold will continue through Friday evening. Lows will eventually fall to the teens and 20s below zero with clear skies and light winds.
Saturday will be another sunny and cold day. Highs will struggle above zero in many locations. As we go into Saturday night, clouds will slowly increase which in turn will keep us a little warmer. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if temperatures warm overnight. Along with the clouds there will be light snow. While moisture is very limited, it shouldn’t take much to get a couple inches of fluffy snow to accumulate Sunday morning and afternoon. Highs on Sunday will be in the single digits and lower teens.
Winds will have to be watched on Monday and Tuesday, especially if the new snow falls. Models are suggesting speeds of twenty to thirty on Monday with stronger winds on Tuesday. It won’t take much to get the light fluffy snow to fly around and create travel problems Monday and Tuesday.
Models are now starting to come around with returning highs to the teens and twenties by Thursday.
