It’s a fairly seasonal end to the workweek and we’ve got a nice weekend just a few hours away. There are some passing sprinkles from a compact little system but they won’t amount to much. The air is dry, and because of that, we have virga streaks. This batch of very light rain is heading from Aberdeen to Sioux Falls but also includes Brookings, Huron, Mitchell and Yankton.
Today’s other big story is the strong NW wind. You’ll likely feel it by day’s end but the breeze fades away by late tonight. We’ll drop to the middle 20s in some northeastern spots, while most others will fall to the lower 30s by tomorrow morning. We should have plenty of sun in the western 2/3 of KELOLAND, with decent sun later in Sioux Falls. Winds won’t be as strong, either. Sunday will be even warmer (largely due to the breeze) as most spots can count on a five degree bump over the day before. Another system arrives early Monday and will cool those in the Black Hills down substantially. There is a chance of wintry mix in Rapid and maybe late Monday in Pierre, too.
The better chance spreads east Tuesday as better energy and moisture support arrives from the southwest. It will likely be cold rain in Sioux Falls. The SE also has the best moisture. A sharp cool-down is possible beyond the seven day forecast.
