Speckled, light showers keep pushing slowly across the area. They’ll pick up a touch this afternoon but we’re really not expecting anything too widespread or heavy. If you do see rain through this evening, it should be minimal, with most spots considerably less than a quarter inch. It’s been a cloudy start to the afternoon for most of the region BUT Sioux Falls and the southeast are just now seeing clouds move in from the WNW. Showers aren’t too far behind that, and they could move in late this afternoon.
We have low-end chances of rain through Sunday and early in the week as KELOLAND remains locked in NW flow. A huge Hudson Bay low is the big driver of our weather the next few days. Tonight will be cold and even with clouds, we’ll have a hard freeze in the north and Black Hills. Tomorrow will be chilly, with clouds early on in the day. Behind yet another cold front, clouds will break later in the afternoon.
There is a slim shot of getting rain on Sunday. We could even see a snowy mix out west, considering just how cold it will be on Monday. This is a Sunday-Monday deal, though some could linger in the east through Tuesday. The problem comes from when our highs fall dramatically early week. That could lead to a slushy mix, the change-over likely coming during the nights. Wednesday and Thursday will be quieter and a big warming trend is possible beyond the seven day forecast.
