Fall has returned to KELOLAND. Or at least an autumn-like feel for the eastern half of our area. Low clouds, fog and mist have all held on from Highway 14 and points south. Aberdeen has much less cloud cover than Sioux Falls but is only marginally warmer. We’ve got full sunshine in the west and, as a result, temperatures are much warmer towards Rapid City.
Fog and low clouds will hold tough tonight around the southeast. One problem is that winds are light out of the south. Radar trends keep picking up on very light showers re-forming and moving northwards. Otherwise, we aren’t expecting much to happen tonight. More than likely Sioux Falls will wake up to overcast skies. Clearing skies will eventually take over, giving us some semblance of a summer day!
It will be hotter in the west, as well. We’re calling for highs in the low 90s near Rapid City. Pierre should stay cooler, in the middle 80s.
Sunday should be warmer, as we kick off a new trend in the extended forecast. We’ve been talking about the warm-up for a long time now and it is almost here. Clear skies will hold from Sunday through Wednesday. It will be dry and it will be hot.
By next Thursday and Friday, there are slight chances of rain returning to the forecast.
