Areas of dense fog in northeast KELOLAND will slowly lift as we go through the morning. The fog combined with temperatures below zero will give some folks a slick commute this morning, take caution in northeast South Dakota this morning.
Today will eventually be sunny and seasonal with highs in the middle twenties for central and eastern KELOLAND to the upper forties in western South Dakota. The seasonal air will last through Saturday, but cooler air will move in on Sunday. The temperatures on Sunday will be back down to the teens and twenties in eastern KELOLAND to the thirties in western South Dakota.
Monday will bring a slight chance for light snow. This will occur mainly for northern KELOLAND as a clipper moves through the upper plains. Models are quickly bringing in much colder air for Christmas Day and the day after. The push of cold air might be able to squeeze out some moisture, so I think we’ll leave a chance for light snow in for Christmas Day. The coldest air of the season will soon take hold of the upper plains after Christmas with many locations below zero for morning lows while highs will most likely stay in the teens.
