Storm Center Update - Friday AM

November 23, 2012, 8:06 AM by Ben Cathey

We’ll have quite a bit of sunshine today but nonetheless it will be cold.  Cold winds are still wrapping around the low pressure system that moved through KELOLAND yesterday.  Winds will take a while to slacken, especially along and east of Interstate 29.  That led to widespread wind chills near 0 degrees.
If you are heading out shopping today, you’ll definitely want to plan your wardrobe accordingly.  A few more clouds move in overnight, but we will still be very cold yet again.  Though the temperatures will be even colder, the winds won’t flare up as much.  This will make it feel about the same.  A warming south wind returns tomorrow during the day.  That will bump high temperatures up 10-20 degrees.  We will have a few more clouds but overall, it should be a nice day.  A few sprinkles are possible late in the day in far northern South Dakota.  Another batch of cold air starts arriving Sunday.  That also ushers in the next chance for snow.  Computer models are keying in on a decent snow in the Black Hills through the day Sunday and into Monday.  Moisture amounts will still change into the weekend, but I compared several models and three had a half inch of moisture in place in the far west.
Next work week we will be cold yet again.  It’s a roller coaster week for temperatures and by next Wednesday we’ll be close to average highs again.

Have a great weekend!

-Ben
