State Shares Workforce Summit Results, Future Plans

State Shares Workforce Summit Results, Future Plans
Governor Dennis Daugaard

ABERDEEN, SD -

The governor is making another workforce needs tour of the state.  This time he's sharing results of the workforce summits held in six communities earlier this year.

During the summits, people across the state shared ideas to meet labor needs.

The governor and other state leaders are now asking communities to look at suggestions and develop local strategies to attract and train more workers.

The state will then assist in the carrying out of those plans in any way possible.

"We have such a low unemployment rate. So even though everyone is facing this mismatch between the folks who are looking for work and the skill sets that employers need, South Dakota is especially problematic," South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard said.

State leaders were in Aberdeen, Watertown and Rapid City on Tuesday; they'll be in Brookings, Mitchell and Sioux Falls on Wednesday.
