State Offices In 10 Western SD Cities Closed
March 24, 2009, 1:08 PM
State offices in 10 western South Dakota cities remain closed this afternoon as blizzard conditions continue to pound the region.
Offices in Mission, Pine Ridge, Dupree, Martin, Eagle Butte, Rapid City, Sturgis, Belle Fourche, Lead-Deadwood and Wall are all closed, as is Mount Rushmore National Memorial and Rapid City Regional Airport.
The South Dakota Department of Transportation has a no-travel advisory in effect for most of the western counties. The state Highway Patrol superintendent, Dan Mosteller, says it's essentially a road closure. Mosteller says people need to know that they shouldn't be traveling.
He says officials will decide this evening whether to make changes in the closure of Interstate 90 from the Wyoming border to Chamberlain.
