Stampede Unveil 2014-15 Regular Season Schedule

July 8, 2014, 4:57 PM

Stampede Unveil 2014-15 Regular Season Schedule

Sioux Falls, SD—The Sioux Falls Stampede unveiled their 2014-15 regular season schedule Tuesday afternoon. All USHL teams will once again play an unbalanced 60 game schedule (30 home, 30 away) from late September until mid-April. 27 of the Stampede’s 30 home games will take place on weekends. 12 games will be played on Friday’s, 13 on Saturday’s and two games will take place on Sunday’s.

In addition, the Herd will host three Wednesday home games, including one on New Year’s Eve. Click here to view the entire schedule.

The season will begin on September 27th in Bloomington, IL against the expansion Bloomington Thunder and end on April 11th in Fargo. The playoffs are slated to begin the following week with the top four teams from each conference qualifying.

The Herd will play their first ever game at the state-of-the-art Denny Sanford Premier Center on Saturday, October 11th versus the Waterloo Black Hawks at 7:05 PM. It will mark the first ever hockey game played inside the Stampede’s new home that will seat nearly 5,500 fans for hockey games and will be the largest venue in the USHL. Last season, the Herd finished first in the USHL attendance, averaging over 4,200 fans per-game and were named USHL Organization of the Year.

Other highlights of the home schedule include Wednesday, October 15th when the Herd host the Sioux City Musketeers for the first time in their new home. Two nights later, Sioux Falls will host the expansion Madison Capitols for the first time ever. After a year away, the New Year’s Eve game returns to Sioux Falls when the Herd host Tri-City on December 31st. The Stampede will close out the home portion of their schedule on Friday, April 10th when they host I-29 rival Sioux City during Sioux Falls Ford “Take My Jersey Night.”

“We are very pleased with the schedule,” said Stampede President/CEO Tom Garrity.  “Our home games are spread out well and playing 27 of our 30 games on weekends will make it easier for fans in Stampede Country to make it to the games. After a record setting season last year, we couldn’t be more excited to get things going and drop the puck at the Denny Sanford Premier Center.”

There are 17 member clubs this season in the USHL with 8 teams representing the Western Conference (Des Moines, Fargo, Lincoln, Omaha, Sioux City, Sioux Falls, Tri-City and Waterloo) and 9 teams representing the Eastern Conference (Bloomington, Cedar Rapids, Chicago, Dubuque, Green Bay,
Madison, Muskegon, Team USA and Youngstown). Bloomington and Madison are both expansion teams in the Eastern Conference. Indiana will not be playing this season but remain an active member in the league.
