SIOUX FALLS, SD -

The Sioux Falls Stampede announced Friday that they have acquire forward Ryan Schwalbe (pronounced Sh-wall-be) and a 12th round pick in the 2014 Phase 2 USHL Draft from the Youngstown Phantoms in exchange for defenseman Bo Pellah and a 6th round draft pick in the 2014 Phase 2 USHL Draft.

Schwalbe recorded 9 points (3g, 6a) in 29 games with the Phantoms this season. The 5-foot-10, 180-pound centerman was a third round draft choice of the Phantoms in the USHL Entry Draft last season. Prior to joining the Phantoms, Schwalbe played for the Salmon Arm SilverBacks in the BCHL where he recorded 21 points in 53 games.

The Anchorage, Alaska native spent from 2009 to 2012 playing Midget Prep hockey at Shattuck St. Mary’s in Minnesota. In 2011-12, Schwalbe recorded 57 points in 57 games at Shattuck St. Mary’s. He has already committed to play collegiate hockey at Minnesota State-Mankato.

Pellah was in his first season with the Herd and recorded 16 points (3g, 13a) in 31 games.

Schwalbe is expected to join the Stampede immediately and could make his debut tonight as the Herd host the Waterloo Black Hawks at 7:05 PM. It is also Social Media Night, presented by Be Well South Dakota. The first 1,000 fans through the doors will receive a FREE Stampede rally towel, compliments of Be Well South Dakota and fans are encouraged to follow the Stampede on Twitter (@sfstampede) and like them on Facebook (facebook.com/sfstampede) for a chance to win special prizes, including an autographed team jersey, during the game.
