The Ice Sports Association or ISA announced Wednesday that it received a charitable donation of $100,000 from the Sioux Falls Stampede.
It’s called the “100K Hat Trick,” referring to when a single player scores three goals in a single game.
The goal of the program is to secure three $100,000 contributions for the new SCHEELS Ice Plex project.
The first part of the program features a $100,000 donation from Sioux Falls Sports, LLC, the group that owns the Stampede.
The second part of the program is a challenge to individuals and the local business community to support the campaign with pledges totaling $100,000.
The final part or “Hat Trick” of the program is an additional $100,000 gift that matches the community’s pledges, dollar for dollar.
The gift is a significant part of the ISA’s plan to raise $7.7 million to construct the Ice Plex.
The Ice Plex will be built on the campus of the Sanford Sports Complex, west of the Sioux Fall Airport. Plans are to break ground in late 2013, with a scheduled opening in fall of 2014.
