Spotlight On Local Talent At JazzFest

July 16, 2010, 5:59 PM by Cherlene Richards

Spotlight On Local Talent At JazzFest
SIOUX FALLS, SD - JazzFest is underway in Sioux Falls.  While headlining bands like Los Lonely Boys and Corey Stevens have yet to take the stage, the spotlight is already shining on local bands in KELOLAND.  The second stage line-up at the event features 14 local groups hoping to jump-start their careers.

Kickin' Analog has only been together for six months, but the group made a grand entrance into the scene at JazzFest Thursday night.

The Sioux Falls band is part of the local line-up of performers on the event's second stage.

“It's really a big opportunity.  It gives us a step to go forward with our music.  There's a certain amount of local clubs we can play at, but you can reach such a bigger audience when you get to JazzFest,” Laura Jean Pulscher said.

The four in the group were friends before bringing their musical talents together and say it just made sense to form a band.

“We all have jobs and we would prefer to play music full time and this is a step in the right direction,” Pulscher said.

Pulscher says the festival is not only a great way to showcase their band in Sioux Falls, it also introduces people from the region and beyond to what they have to offer.

“Sioux Falls is very supportive.  There are so many musicians, local musicians coming around, supporting your group.  It doesn't matter that they're another band; they're going to support you.  The people are just really interested in something new and entertaining,” Pulscher said.

The group ordered CD's with their music and the box of 100 arrived this week, just in time for the event.
