Spearfish Assistant Principal Honored With Award

December 15, 2012, 2:23 PM

SPEARFISH, SD -

The assistant principal at Spearfish High School is being honored as the state's best.

Reports say that Jim Seyer was honored Friday as South Dakota Assistant Principal of the Year after earlier capturing the Black Hills regional title.

Seyer joined the Spearfish School District as an administrator 10 years ago. He previously taught computers, industrial technology and social science in Marshall, Minn.

Seyer says he's extremely humbled to receive the award.

Principal Steve Morford says Seyer cares deeply for each student. Morford says an assistant principal's job is to deal with situations that are negative in nature, but Seyer is able to create positives out of negatives.
