SIOUX FALLS, SD -
A new report says South Dakota is feeling the effects of the government shutdown more than any other state in the region.
The personal finance social network WalletHub looked at which states have the highest concentration of federal employees and the most significant federal contracts.
The report also factored in where the most people have lost or are at risk of losing funding from the federal government, such as students, small business owners, senior citizens and veterans.
South Dakota came in as the 12th hardest hit state, in part because it has had one of the highest rates for small business borrowing and the shutdown affects the ability to get Small Business Administration loans.
