Snow Gates Measure Sweeps Election

April 9, 2014, 1:36 AM by Brady Mallory

Snow Gates Measure Sweeps Election

The last thing many of us want to see is another snowfall, but supporters of snow gates may be looking forward next winter. The measure passed overwhelmingly, taking more than 75 percent of the vote.

Supporters say the benefit of snow gates is the devices prevent that heap of snow from piling up at the end of driveways, so homeowners who have just finished shoveling don't have to bust up a pile of snow along the street.

"I've had men, a great interest from men who say this is going to be fantastic. Saving their backs. Saving their hearts. It's going to put us on the map," Theresa Stehly, a vocal support of snow gates, said.

The devices have been tested on certain neighborhoods since 2010.
