Slippery I-90 Conditions Send Semis Into Ditch

SALEM, SD - Slippery road conditions have sent at least three semi trucks into the ditch along Interstate 90 near the Salem exit. Reports from the area indicate the interstate and side roads are very icy and slick.

More than half a dozen counties are now under a winter weather advisory because of light freezing rain and snow.  That includes the Salem, Howard, De Smet and Brookings areas.

The Safe Travel USA website showed wet and slippery conditions in the Mitchell area around 5:30 a.m. However, those conditions are moving east and will eventually make their way to Sioux Falls.
