Slightly Ahead Of Last Winter

January 23, 2013, 5:23 PM by Scot Mundt

Slightly Ahead Of Last Winter

Meteorological winter consists of the months of December through February.  We're just a little bit more than halfway through this winter, but we've seen a little more precip than this time last winter.

Here's a look at the numbers since December 1; many locations are around a half-inch to an inch-and-a-half. A typical winter gives anywhere from an inch-and-a-half to two inches worth of water. So, we're well on our way to an average winter.

When compared to last year, many locations are slightly above. Last years totals at this time ranged from about a quarter inch to an inch.

Though last year gave many in KELOLAND below average snow, we didn't see much of it until later in January and February.  Hopefully we'll keep our chances to get moisture going, as we don't need to continue our dry spell into spring.
