Skyforce Tops Canton 86-82; Game Three Monday

Sioux Falls S.D. (April 12, 2014) – The Sioux Falls Skyforce defeated the Canton Charge 86-82 in Game 2 of its first-round series Saturday night at the Sanford Pentagon. The game was a defensive battle, but Sioux Falls led by as many as 10 in the fourth quarter and would go on to win and force a decisive Game 3 at home Monday night.

Both teams were able to excel in statistical categories they have traditionally dominated: rebounds for Canton and forced turnovers for Sioux Falls. Canton held a 52-29 edge on the glass and Sioux Falls forced 27 Charge turnovers. Canton converted 13 second-chance points off 14 offensive rebounds and Sioux Falls scored 30 points off turnovers.

DeAndre Liggins had the hot hand from downtown, finishing 6-of-10 from long range and ending the night with a game-high 21 points. Sioux Falls shot 45.5 percent from three after shooting just 16 percent in the Playoff opener Thursday night in Canton, Ohio.

Sioux Falls ran a balanced scoring attack that was led by Liggins’ 21 points. Craig Smith and Tre Kelley finished with 12 points and Henry Walker ended with 10. Liggins also pulled down a team-high nine rebounds and Kelley dished out a game-high seven assists.

Canton was led by Antoine Agudio’s 16 points and Arinze Onuaku’s game-high 12 rebounds. The Charge made just 16.7 percent of attempted 3-pointers.
